Vancouver Film School Streamlines its HR Processes with EMPulse Series

By implementing EMPulse Series HRMS, Vancouver Film School (VFS) is replacing a bevy of spreadsheets, manual time cards, and paper-based documents with a state-of-the-art human resource management system. EMPulse Series provides VFS with a single point of entry to view or modify employee information, submit and approve employee timesheets, maintain and mine a database of programs, courses and instructor skills, and pay employees with a few mouse clicks.

The move to EMPulse Series allows VFS to enjoy substantial gains in productivity by streamlining processes that were previously cumbersome and highly time consuming. Everything that was manually entered into their former HR system required a paper copy to be delivered to Payroll where it was entered again. Moreover, each level of staff information was entered onto multiple spreadsheets and required a series of checks and balances to ensure that no details were missed.

With EMPulse Series, all employee HR and payroll information is entered once into a single easy-to-use interface thereby ensuring that employee data is always accurate and up to date. Instructors remotely access the system to enter their timesheets, which are instantly available to the payroll department at VFS’ head office. Based on the reported hours and tasks performed by instructors and other employees, EMPulse Series further simplifies the work of payroll staff by automatically determining the correct pay rate to use in the calculation of the gross pay.
